About Us

Smart Dietetics was established in the Barossa Valley in 2016 in response to a lack of dietetics services available for the local community.

Since then it has evolved to become a well recognised voice for reliable nutrition information and not only provides individual consultation services but also is frequently asked to assist with health promotion events, collaborating with other organisations to deliver group education sessions and contribute to local media publications and radio.

In the clinic, we specialise predominantly in non-dieting approaches to weight management and chronic disease through private consultations, Medicare EPC plans, DVA, Workcover and NDIS.

We pride ourselves on offering a high quality, caring and personalised service to develop ongoing relationships with our clients to provide them with lasting care.

Principal Dietitian and Nutritionist
Founding Director

Suzannah Smart The Barossa Dietitian and Nutritionist

Suzannah's passion for good food & cooking started at a very young age as she grew up in a family where it was a central part of life. However during her high school years Suzannah started experiencing some health difficulties and was eventually diagnosed with PCOS. She began to learn first-hand how important food can be in directly influencing her life, her body and her health.

This further fueled her interest in nutrition and sparked a passion for helping others to feel better through food, leading her to complete her university degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.

Over the past 10 years Suzannah has since enjoyed pursuing her career as a Dietitian, working in Australia and the United Kingdom in both hospitals and private practice.

Outside of work Suzannah spends most of her time being 'Mum' to baby boy and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, stocking up on fresh produce at the Barossa Farmers Markets, and looking after her animals and vegetable garden.

Stacey Hardie APD, AN
Dietitian and Nutritionist
Accredited Sports Dietitian

Stacey has always had the ambition to help those in rural and regional South Australia live healthy lives. As a lifelong local, Stacey understands the blessings and difficulties of living in the country. Not only how hard it can be to have access to fresh and affordable produce but the travel commitments it can take to access them.

When she’s working, Stacey is passionate about making a connection with those she meets and prioritising individualised care for her clients. She can empathise as well as support her clients with ideas and plans to suit any lifestyle. She has always had an obsession with food and how its nutrients can have a positive effect on the body and loves to share her knowledge.

With a 5 year background in sports nutrition, and recently completing her sports dietetics qualifications, Stacey has a keen interest in how to optimise performance in training, competitions and on game day through food.

When you don’t find her in the clinic, Stacey will be on her family farm foraging in the orchard with her children or driving the truck, or she may be found in the community playing tennis or netball, sports training or devoting her time to her young family.
